Amphibious Motobag 2
The debate between hard luggage and soft luggage wages on. But if you make the choice to go with soft luggage, the Amphibious Motobag 2 should be considered. Made in Italy, these heavy-duty PVC bags have welded seams to ensure waterproof integrity, and a 40-liter total capacity makes them slightly larger than Wolfman’s Expedition Dry Saddle Bags. If you’re looking for BIG capacity, the standard Amphibious Motobags have a massive 100 liters of gear-carrying space.
Loading these bags is a breeze because of the large top opening. The bag initially seals up with hook and loop fasteners across the top, and after you roll up a bag to give it its waterproof seal, there are clips to hold it in place. As you’re sealing the bag you’ll see what makes this luggage truly unique: The Motobag 2 has an integrated air valve that allows you to bleed off all of the excess air, compressing it as tightly as possible. There are also numerous hook and loop compression straps, as well as nylon straps and buckles, to ensure your gear is tight and secure and won’t shift as you ride.
Mounting the Motobag 2 to the bike for the first time proved tricky as they’re universal and not designed for one particular rack. After trying a few variations of wrapping the attached straps around my Wolfman Side Racks, I found a mounting solution that firmly secured them to my DR650 without being overly complex.
The orange version of the bags definitely catch people’s attention and the integrated reflective strips help ensure you are seen at night or in low visibility environments.
The included padded shoulder straps make carrying the luggage a breeze when off your bike, and the inside zipper pocket is a perfect place to stash small items you don’t want getting buried in the bottom of the bag.
