Game Changing Honda NC700X
Honda has been showing off the NC700X since last year’s EICMA show, and this summer, the potential game-changing bike will hit showroom floors.
While many competitors have their focus set on building their adventure bikes to a higher performance standard, the NC700X appears to be built with accessibility in mind.
For instance, check out the optional Dual Clutch Transmission; the bike comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but the optional DCT should appeal to scooter riders or anyone else who doesn’t want to mess around with the learning curve of a clutch.
The NC700X is also designed to make rough roads more accessible. Even though it’s a tad heavy (472 lbs, or 505 lbs with DCT) and doesn’t come equipped for ridiculously gnarly off-road work (17-inch cast wheels are stock), the NC700X has enough suspension travel (six inches in front, 5.9 inches in back) to help you get off the beaten track. The fuel tank has a 3.7-gallon capacity; Honda reckons that’s good for about a 240-mile range.
The bike is supposed to have plenty of torque in the low rev range, which should be comforting to a new rider. In fact, the biggest complaint we’ve seen so far about the Honda is that test pilots, used to wringing out the throttles in inline-four sportbikes, don’t like the liquid-cooled, 670cc parallel twin’s low-end power delivery.
Lastly, the price is accessible as well, with the base model carrying an MSRP of $6,999. PowerSports.Honda.com
