2017 Wolfman Enduro Dry Saddle Bag Review
Once a day was my typical rate of forgetting something inside my old Wolfman Enduro Dry Saddle Bags. I’d have to unclip some straps and open the top to get whatever I had forgotten. Being used to that routine, I didn’t feel like I needed the new, updated Enduro Dry Saddle Bags even though they boasted improvements to organization and size. But sometimes we don’t appreciate what we’re missing until we get it.
With seven compression straps on each bag, it’s a cinch to cinch down just about any load, and the beefy D-rings on top offer an easy place to strap more gear. Adjusting both saddle straps isn’t complicated and they don’t slip out of place, even over hundreds of miles of whoops. The metal brackets on the rear mounting straps should fit almost any enduro-style fender or luggage rack and have small D-rings for additional luggage strapping options. The overall construction of these bags is very solid, typical for Wolfman. For example, the lower mounting straps will actually break instead of getting torn out of the bag if accidentally caught in your wheel.
A 23% increase in size and the addition of two organizational features are just a few of the improvements in the 2017 Wolfman Enduro Dry Saddle Bags.
The main roll-top straps are beefier, and compression straps have been slightly rearranged for more uniform load tightening. Moving one compression strap to the bottom keeps everything cinched down more tightly so the bags don’t billow when empty. External zipper pockets on both sides greatly increase user-friendliness, so you don’t have to be as mindful of where you pack small things like a toothbrush or tent stakes. The organization sleeves inside each bag provide easy access for things like maps or electronic cables that will lie flat. Both sides of the bags are also padded to retain shape and offer a bit more protection for gear inside.
Fortunately, the size increase is also spot-on. Instead of just lengthening or widening the bags, proportions have been scaled just slightly in every direction. This means they still fit on lightweight bikes and will stay mostly out of your way on tighter trails. The dimensional changes are so subtle you practically have to lay the new and old bags side by side to see any difference. However, this roughly 23% increase in total volume doesn’t go unnoticed when packing supplies. The outgoing bags were perfect for lightweight trail riding and camping, needing only a backpack and small tail pouch to carry everything for a number of weeks. The new bags will do the same thing even better. Simply put, Wolfman nailed it with improvements through and through. MSRP: $284.99 WolfmanLuggage.com
